I DID IT I FINISHED SOMETHING

This is 541-NT (Saint), a scouting robot Ogrin, carrying the last of a specific species of Grundo. Both were destined to be eliminated by a more advanced race, but a rebel Grundo reprogrammed Saint to care for her offspring. Saint now roams the invaded planet, caring for the delicate embryo and searching for a safe place for the little one to grow up.

(Other random tidbits under the cut if you’re interested~)

- The embryo is always growing and needs to be kept in an incubator almost constantly. The portable incubation unit Saint is carrying on his back is only supposed to be used for a few weeks at most, as they were just meant for quick transport, and contain limited space and amniotic fluids. Because of this, Saint has to continuously find/steal new incubation units to accommodate the growing embryo (This is why he’s holding the egg in the image if you were curious).

- The species of Grundo the embryo is from typically lay their eggs in large pools of warm, mineral rich water that are all over their home planet. They are able to survive out of this fluid for a few days at most before dying.

- The outer shell of the embryo is actually quite sturdy when it’s healthy. It’s very rubbery and doesn’t puncture easily. If it does puncture, it typically takes an hour for the membrane to heal itself. The healing process damages the embryo every time it’s done.

- Saint was originally made to collect resources/research in harsh environments. He is able to run at a fast pace over rough terrain for days on end. However, Saint is actually fairly old, and his limbs often malfunction and cause problems. He has learned to repair himself with whatever he has available. Most of his outer casings are stolen from newer units he finds.

- Saint can speak, but his voice is very loud and distorted. He prefers to stay silent most of the time.
