9: Friends
Might go back and finish shading this one sometime, but I’m done with it for now. Glinmuin and our half-elf monk, who was the first person he met in our campaign. Had a good bro moment session before last, doin the hand-wrist-grasp thing. No matter what kind of crazy eldritch shit goes down, they’ll stick together!
oc-eptember Day 1: Favourite Oc(s) Dakota
day 3 and 4 of oceptember:
least loved oc: dev (needs more love tbh)
initial design: kanna was based off my old gaiaonline avatar from 2004
*slaps top of chest* this bad boy can hold so much adventuring gear!
OC-eptember 8: What’s in the Bag?
So Glinmuin has the Diplomat’s Pack, which states it comes with a chest.... which I chose to interpret as a sort of cross between a steamer chest and Ginko’s chest from Mushishi. So he’s got all these compartments and panels and separators for his stuff and big ole straps to carry it around like a backpack! In the top part, he’s got his scroll cases (wherein he keeps his papers) and his folding travel shovel (which works on its own as a spade, or you can shove a stick in the handle to make a proper sized shovel). The long space is where he keeps the case for his story staff (usually wrapped in a blanket for extra security). An iron pot crammed full of rations and travel foods wrapped in wax papers takes the top open space, and then the drawers below are where he keeps his other supplies / miscellaneous goods - sealing wax, pens, soap, a vial of perfume, two bottles of ink, and two flasks of oil.
Which, I’m going to out myself as a huge nerd (as if I’ve not done that already) and say it is SORT OF HILARIOUS BUT ALSO FRUSTRATING that the Gnomish word for “oil” is “ilm” and in Dethek runes, “ilm” just LOOKS LIKE THE WORD OIL BUT DRAWN SORTA POINTY LIKE TO MAKE IT FANTASY. I’m dying. But I swear I did the research and that’s just what it happens to look like. XD I also labeled the ink bottles (black and brown respectively) and he has his name on the front panel edge of the trunk as well! So I can write his name.
The little dog-shaped thing in front of the story staff case is actually his oil lamp. It’s based a little off of cocked hat oil lamps from Roman times, but it’s shaped like a dog because his cousin Varnebbick made it for him and Nebbie wants to be a riding dog ranger like his brother Bodkint and cousin Namfwick! Go on adventures and help people! Yeah!! So Nebbie gave him the lamp and made Glinmuin promise to tell him all about his travels when he comes home. It has extra wicks tied around the handle-tail when not in use.
(I couldn’t help adding the “fits so much” meme even though I didn’t shade it and also a little sketch of Nebbie giving Glinmuin the lamp, ahaha. So three pics for the price of one OCept!)
OC-eptember 10: Enemy
Pop quiz time!! When is it acceptable to harm our precious ratboy?
A: NEVER.
Here, have a significantly sillier picture for OC-eptember 7: Obscure Fact.
Glinmuin can’t swim.
He could probably manage a dogpaddle if he absolutely HAD to, but he had a Bad Experience as a kid and never learned to swim properly. Doesn’t much like the water, in general, for that reason. Buuuut he’s 7′2″, so whenever he was minding his bitty gnome cousins and they wanted to swim, he just stood in the water with them, hahaha. So all of THEM learned to swim, at least!
OC-eptember 6: Regrets
“I thought you were dead... and now I’ve killed you... Oh gods, please...”
“I’m glad it was you, in the end...”
