This was all his fault . He shouldn’t have been out there to begin with ; was his luck really that awful ? It had been almost a week since the incident — and since he last seen the other . Thatcher was ashamed to say it , but he had been avoiding the soldier ever since , out of sheer guilt . Whenever he was caught by him — only mentally berating him for being out and about when he should be resting — he would find some excuse to be elsewhere .

Thatcher was exhausted . He’s been slipping up as of late , and he almost lost his head today . By some miracle , Xanxus hadn’t killed him for his slip up , but he swore he saw his own life flash through his eyes .

Seeing Miceli ahead of him , he paused , ready to turn down a random hall . But then he was suddenly pushed forward , and a small cry escaped him . A quick glance back revealed that it was his sous chef that had assaulted him , guiding him along until he was literally shoved into Miceli and disappearing just as quickly .

“      I have something for you —       “       He suddenly blurted out , rather than apologizing , because he didn’t do anything wrong . And truthfully , he panicked .

It had been a long day, customers constantly coming in to place orders or calling to see where their delivery was. Business was good but that didn’t make Shinya any less tired. When it was finally time to close for the day his apron was quickly stripped off and slung over the counter as he made his way around to the front door. 

Once there he flips the sign over from ‘OPEN’ to ‘CLOSED’. Rolling his shoulder he begins his way back to the flowers, all he had to to do before heading home was to check the wilting blooms which wouldn’t’ take long. With the pressure of customers gone, music is soon playing from his phone while he dances and hum along finishing up his final chores of the day.

The rapid knocking on the glass door stops him in his tracks and he spins on his heels, wide eyed. Had they seen him dancing? How embarrassing. Lets hope it’s no one he knows. He man’s eyes take a moment to adjust from bright LED’s to the dark outside and he notices the person lingering out the front. Shinya cant help but hesitate but takes long strides over to open up and peek his head out.

❝I‘m sorry we’re closed for the day. We will be open again tomorrow at nine AM.❞

             The few years that he’s inhabited this human body, one would think that he might have already tired of masquerading as one of them— holding a job and dealing with the issues and situations he wouldn’t have otherwise had to deal with as a fire spirit. He liked the mundane feel of it all, properly experiencing human emotions and mingling with them. Even now, as he was wrapping up a late night shift at the bar with just a handful of other people, he found a smile on his face as he bagged up the garbage and headed to the dumpster out back.

             What he hadn’t expected was to feel a vaguely familiar, in the sense of his element, presence seemingly appearing from behind him as he tossed the bag over his shoulder and into the massive metal bin. Emerald irises glow ever so faintly as he whirls around, perhaps just a BIT too quick compared to someone, well, actually HUMAN. Even less on his things to expect was a pitiful expression portrayed in russet eyes— a WHIMPER following words that made his brows knit tightly together.

             ‘ Please come home. ’

             Dumbstruck, he stares at this person— no, CREATURE. Emeralds are fixated on him, it seems, for a solid minute or two before he finds his voice again. “ I’m sorry, I think you have the wrong person. ” Words spoken politely as he peels the thin plastic gloves used for sanitary purposes and tosses them into the dumpster too, the somewhat powdery residue stark against the charcoal-like STAIN upon his hands and wrists.

             “ Is there anything I can do for you? Bar’s closing up but I can probably make them part with a drink or two. You kinda...look like you might need it? ”

𝗠𝗜𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗗𝗘𝗧𝗔𝗜𝗟𝗦 :  “ mister barkeep ! ” luca’s voice reaches before he does, bright and cheerful. the soldier had thought of him -- well actually he had thought of minerva first, but that’s not super important. what’s important is ! he pulled out a box of honey whiskey chocolates from his coat pocket, handing it to ansel. but ... that's also not the point of the trip. “ where’s minnie ? ”   —  unprompted!   𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗦 𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧 : ALWAYS ACCEPTING!

Ansel kept his bar , for the most part , quiet and tranquil . Only the sound of casual conversations among his patrons , and the occasional out burst , ever filled the room . Though , he supposed it did tend to get a little loud during the busy hours . But this was not one of them , so when the other disrupted the casual vibe of the bar , his eyes instantly cut to him . Ansel barely managed to suppress a sigh .

“       I have a name ,     “     he pointed out , brow arched . But then a chuckle followed and he reached out , casually ruffling his hair .      “      I’m kidding . Call me whatever you want .      “      He accepts the chocolate , examining it for a moment with an impressed whistle . Where did he get his hands on this ? Good taste , he will give him that .       “       Thanks for this , I will be sure to enjoy it .     “

Ansel should have seen this coming . Of course he wasn’t here for him , why would he be ? Ah , Valentine’s Day was always so lonely for him , though he supposed that he did that to himself . He didn’t actively look for company .     “      Minerva’s upstairs , you can go say hi . I’m surprised she hasn’t come down herself ,      “      he commented , pushing open the wooden , swinging door that would let Luca behind the bar and to the stairs .       “       Just don’t touch anything up there , okay ?      “

             DESTRUCTION. He could practically taste it in his very veins the moment icy hues suddenly open from a nap he had been taking at the edge of his village, just at the outskirts of the underground. His body was practically attuned to the surrounding forest whenever danger approached, and something was wreaking havoc through their beloved space of peace and tranquility— something that seemed both...MORTAL and OTHER.

           As irritating as it was to have been so rudely awakened, Shasta was on his feet and headed towards the area of disaster at lightning speed, stopping only for a split second to tell his uncle not to rally anyone together, and to simply make sure everyone stayed in the village. A PRINCE he did not like to be called, but he protected his people when it was necessary.

             What greets his eyes upon the scene puts a scowl instantly on his face— what looked to be a human, probably possessed by something chaotic, causing as much damage as he could. It didn’t seem to be directed at anything in particular...perhaps some sort of internal struggle? He didn’t really have to time to observe and find out if he wanted to enact damage control. Shasta needed to at least immobilize him, and he reaches out for the surrounding darkness to try and bind the threat, reaching into a sweater pocket to rummage around for a pendant. ( It wasn’t the caliber he needed to surpress this level entity, but it would have to do for now. )

             Shasta strikes with both tendrils of darkness and the pendant in the split moment that the person falters, wrapping the darkness like a corporeal rope and nigh slamming the jewel against his forehead. He hadn’t quite expected the man to faint...but he supposes he should count his blessings— even if this now means he needs to bring this stranger to his abode in order to keep an eye on him while making a proper amulet.

            “ Well fuck, just gotta ruin my day. Better fucking stay asleep because I will slaughter you and bring you back if you cause havoc in my village. ”
