The Weird Gathering (John Greenleaf Whittier) & Other Tales, an excellent tome collecting tales and prose of ‘“Supernatural” Women in American Popular Fiction, 1800 - 1850’ with works by Elizabeth P. Hall, E.F. Ellett, James Hogg, Volney Howard, Clara Guernsey, Emma C. Embury and many other authors lost to time. Definitely a passion project for editor Ronald Curran (who also edited Witches, Wraiths & Warlocks). I’ve had this nearly 600 page paperback since high school and it definitely filled my head with images of sabbats on the Brocken, magick poppets, haunted objects and places at a formidable age.
