Occupy Movement - Final Thoughts

The Occupy Movement definitely had its ups and downs in its short existence. While its message spread across the globe, most notable was when it settled in on Wall Street on September 17th 2011 (http://occupywallst.org/about). Occupy Wall Street was probably the most notable of the Occupy Movements, but even that seemed to do little to reach the group’s goal. 

As a matter of fact, that was one of the main issues with the Occupy Movement - its goals. Much of what plagued the ever-present campers was a consistent goal and purpose. This is what ultimately did the movement in - a lack of leadership and lack of clear demands. This lack of structure is probably what prevented the movement from having any real success. 

Still, that’s not to say it did not have any impact at all. The Occupy Movement certainly caught the attention of the world, especially of city-dwellers whose parks were crowded with tents and sleeping bags. But park presence was not the only way protesters got our attention. The whole thing was started and spread over social media, spreading the word like wildfire. Supporters even got a little bit of a budge from the big banks removing new fees. 

The Occupy Movement may have been short-lived and may not have had the biggest success, but it wasn’t a total failure either.

Thoughts and opinions: the man in the suit looks very determined, but also a bit childish. A curious question: does this image show the movement as childish, or does it show it as successful?
