I've been doing Exposure and Response Prevention for my OCD for a few weeks now, and I say this with the utmost optimism:
✨it sucks✨
I'm making good headway, but the whole schtick is that when something starts to get easier, up the difficulty. When I could lock the door without washing my hands, I had to use door handles without washing my hands. When I could walk across different colours without acting on symmetry anxiety, I had to walk across different textures. And so on...
I'm getting better at it, but the things I have to take on are getting harder. It feels like it never gets easier!
It's exhausting, but I have made some progress, so I'm pushing through 😤
I tried a bit of Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to start trying to deal with some bad OCD habits, and it was the WORST. Even starting small.
But it's the means to a positive end, so I will keep pushing.
