‘ you’ve never hurt me. ever. ’

SHE SEES IT FIRST: a ribbon of frost that pours from chapped lips. Frantic hand clasps over her mouth, and the chill leaks down her throat, into her lungs. It stings. She COUGHS, and frost seeps out of the space between her fingers. 

Heart thrums like a rabbit’s as she skitters away from him, creating as much space between them as she possibly can. Thoughts come at a breakneck pace and she can’t quiet them : Has he seen this? Does he know this? What happened to trigger this. She can’t remember. Hazy memories escape her the more she tries to reach for them. The fingers against her cheek go numb, and as she pulls them away from her face she sees the beginnings of ice crusted against her nails.

“ YOU HAVE TO GO. ”

“ You’ve never hurt me. Ever. ”

KAI is sunshine and surf and warmth, guidance and authority and stability. 

The things that she can’t be, that she can’t understand.

Grief and anger and COLD grip her chest. Tears slip down her cheeks, the sensation of cold rain against her face.

KATJA IS LIGHT ON HER FEET, though, in this moment, it’s a product of both her demeanor and the IMPRESSIVE number of drinks in her system. She nearly floats to Kai’s side though the crowd like a drunken fairy, her hair sticking in damp curls against flushed cheeks. She GRINS, goofy and childish, and stares up at him. “ Do you think being a WAYFINDER gives you a higher alcohol tolerance? ”

something that makes your muse smile.

Harry: You’re smiling, did something good happen? Uma: Can’t I just smile because I want to? Gil: Mal tripped and fell down the stairs.

i kid, i kid. (ok, only partially kidding.) 

but like... uma enjoys it when she’s on top, or proven right. and especially when mal fails while she succeeds. it’s petty, and she knows that, but it’s just so nice for her to feel like, for once, she can be the one who wins. 

but on the other side, her crew makes her smile a lot. she loves knowing that they are there, backing her up and supporting her when she needs it. the lost revenge crew is her family, and she would do anything to keep them safe.
