lots to dislike about so much changing, but i really like being able to swim now. the ocean is a lot more welcoming without 200+ pounds of metal grafted onto your frame

a siren/ocean-themed aesthetic for hikage who misses her teammates, requested by @multy-kins!
i love the ocean so much... but it's something special at night. the dark waves call to me. it's cold, and the air is wet and heavy with the smell of the sea, and the only sound is the crash of water into beach. it's home in a way not much else is. i feel calm there, like a part of me finally relaxes when i catch even a glimpse of that endless churning darkness. it's so beautiful. i'm just a flimsy human now, not made to survive for long within her embrace. but she misses me. i know this. i miss her, too.
MY CURRENT FAVORITE ONLINE THING, ASIDE FROM THE MAN ON TICK TOCK WHO DEBUNKS AND ARGUES AGAINST PSEUDOSCIENTISTS IN THE ARCHAEOLOGY COMMUNITY, IS THOSE GIF IMAGES OF ONE MODEL OF ME ATTACKING ANOTHER. FOR EXAMPLE, ME KICKING ME AGAINST A GIANT TRAIN, INTO THE OCEAN, OR INTO SPACE. HILARIOUS.

Time is the sea. I float in it.
Pros to listening to sea shanties: unlocking memories of singing with the crew!
Cons to listening to sea shanties: now I miss singing with the crew :(
@the Zim afraid of water; it'd actually not that irrational if you're also germaphobic. (I'm afraid of both too!) The amount of purification and sanitization water goes through in water and wastewater treatment plants is a LOT and once you take classes on it (which I have and 20/10 don't recommend) you will swear off any bodies of water that aren't treated regularly with chemicals. 🥲 Not trying to scare anybody but lordy there are some water-borne illnesses that scare the crap outta me and I am forever thankful to the water treatment technologies. Especially those little water bottles with filters in them.
If you miss being somewhere you can't be in this life (underwater/in the sea, deep space) and you have the funds? a vr headset is AMAZING. I feel like I'm home again, and I've been crying for the last half hour because I'm so happy. If you can't afford something pricy like that, try immersive videos on yt and wear headphones that cover your ears. I'm telling you, it will help the homesickness.
