First Subspecies reference! The Cave Lutritudo, modelled by Elvis! These guys are a common species, so free to make!
If you do make a cave one, you do not have to follow Elvis as an exact guide! Be creative with colours, markings and features!
Information under cut~
Cave Lutritudos are within the medium of the species varying around 5-7ft tall. They tend to be on the slimmer side with longer legs than the rest of the Lutri subspecies.
They, much like the name, are usually found in caves in larges groups of families. They are often nocturnal, coming out during dusk to gather insects and fruits, and the occasional small mammal or flowers for the nectar.
Cave Lutris rely on hearing and smell more than anything. Though their eyesight is good with incredible night vision, their big ears are able to pick up even the smallest of sounds miles away, and their fleshy noses makes them able to ‘see’ heat and scents.
They have an extra toe on each of the hind paws, and they are prehensile. Their claws are always a little bit unretracted, their full unretracted claws are the longest of the subspecies and very sharp. But only often used to pick for bugs in tunnels and in trees, rarely for fighting.
Blindness is very common in Cave Lutris, 1 in 7 Cave Lutri will be born/become blind, compared to the rest of the subspecies.
((An update to the subspecies for the species sheets I doing, just need to finish up general anatomy (and like ‘more intimate anatomy’ y’know), pregnancy things, and like traditional things (like the special rocks).. I think most of it will be in text, but idk how I shall arrange it yet..
Also two more subspecies added, Woodland (Lionel’s one) (modelled by knock off Lionel) and the Sea one!
EDIT: Moving all the info in the old post to here!
Desert- The smallest of the species, about 4-5ft, usually lives alone/with mates/pups but is quite social if comes across other members, lives in burrows/make-shift caves, crepuscular/nocturnal, diet of insects and small mammals, large ears and un-retractable short claws for digging
Rainforest- ‘Lankiest’ of the species, 6-8ft, lives in small groups of family but actively socialises with other groups, lives in tree canopies, diurnal, diet of fruit, insects, fish and small mammals/birds, longer arms, more prehensile tail and prehensile feet, best at climbing trees
Savannah- Can vary from 5-8ft, lives in larges groups, diurnal, diet of fruit/veg and meats, probably the strongest of the species if they put their minds to it, but notoriously lazy, also the loudest, tusks are quite common
Tundra- The biggest of the species, 7-10ft, usually on the move, so only takes short naps whenever/wherever, usually is with mate/pups but will group up with others for a while, diet is whatever they can find, usually will try to get meat if they can, much thicker fur than the other subspecies, tusks are common
Cave- 5-7ft, lives in large groups, nocturnal, diet of insects and fruit, smaller eyes, very sensitive to sunlight, but the best night vision and larger ears, has the best hearing, prehensile feet and the best at climbing rocky/mountainous places
Feral- More of a strange phenomenon than a subspecies, can occur anywhere, in any subspecies, is completely covered in fur, a short snout, always has tusks, un-retractable claws, unable to human speak, eyes glow and have no visible pupil/iris, cause unknown but could be a birth mutation or a transformation after exposure to something (or lack of something)
Woodland- Average size 6-7ft, lives in large groups, usually by rivers/lakes, diurnal, diet of mostly fish and veg/fruit, most common of all the subspecies
Sea- 6-8ft, lives in large groups, live on beaches/by the sea, diurnal, diet of mostly fish, fur is the oily-est of subspecies and hands/paws are permanently semi-webbed
