Why is it that every time I make characters they always deal with the internal/external validation struggle? Like trying to rely on only one or the other is miserable?? One cannot solely rely on themselves for support. And one cannot base their worth on only other people.

seems like there are two kinds of responses when someone is asked about their OCs

“one of them has a cool jacket”

and

“here is a dissertation on every single one of their personalities and a novel on their current stories including their backstories and a full medical dossier of their physical and mental health history as well as full color references with turnarounds and a few essays on their fashion choices plus a menu of their favorite foods and here is a diagram of how their stories relate to each other and here’s the folder where i store the RPs i’ve done with them and they each have their own folder and would you like to see the shrines i’ve built to them”
