Life ; Aura and Styles

Aura is defined as the unique emanation of life energy of an individual. 

This emanation is what protects most individuals from instant death. When a person dies, the aura works to keep them alive until the soul can be retrieved by a Reaper (or someone with similar power). If a soul is not taken, it will be in danger of getting eaten by or turning into a Shallow.

When fighting, aura is vital. To use a weapon to its fullest potential (and to avoid being hurt by your own magic), the user must have an allowance pact with it. The allowance pact enables the user’s mana to connect to it. To create a pact (which is a basic skill that everyone can learn, like driving), one’s aura must be burned onto it. This pact can only be removed when the owner dies or if they break it themselves.

When in dangerous situations, aura also ‘hardens’ in order to protect the body. The aura can only do so much however and cannot (and will not) prevent major injuries. Depending on the person, at best, aura can give you a boost in speed, vitality, strength, etc.

A person’s fighting style can affect their aura. Some more than others. The three fighting styles are:

Physical >> Fighting with only weapons

Magical >> Fighting using your mana and element spells

Combo >> A combination of both physical and magical or of more than one element

Out of the three, combo magic is the hardest but most useful. It’s quite difficult to learn more than one element unless one has started from a young age. However, it’s not impossible. It takes practice to strengthen your mana chains.

The last category which doesn’t really involve fighting is Creation. Creation deals with modifying basic weapons to be useful in battle. Different from blacksmithing where it’s making the weapon, Creation Style is where one complicates a weapon and stylizes it with either some kind of mechanic or with magic.

Magic, Mana

Mana is known as magical energy in an organism or item. The level of mana is usually based on one’s species and practice.

There are two concepts to using mana and magic. Mana flow and mana chains.

Mana flow refers to how much mana can be spent at once. A low flow means weak magic and a high flow is stronger and can allow for multiple spells at a time.

Mana chains are the connection of one’s mana to their ability. The more chains you have, the more diverse your magic can be. Essentially, everyone has the potential to do all types of magic. But to make them stronger, one must exercise that chain. However, the stronger the chains you have, the ability to learn gain a new chain lessens. It’s not uncommon or looked down upon if one focuses on a single (or few) magic types rather than being well rounded. If the chains become broken (or dispelled), the person can’t use magic. Most of the time, the effects of a broken chain are not permanent. Unless it’s a curse, a mana chain will fix itself over time. However, the longer the chain, the longer it will take for a full recovery. 

To put it simply, mana flow is the equivalent to MP cost. Mana chains refer to one’s magic compatibility. For example, if you excel in Fire magic, it’ll be harder to learn stronger spells of Earth because the chain is weak (or has been broken). But if you’re quite average at multiples, you have the option strengthen them or to abandon a few and specialize in other magic.

There’s two types of magic: Elemental and Manipulation.

Elemental magic includes:

Manipulation magic includes:

Object (ex. Repair things, telekinesis)

Summoning (ex. beats, spirits, forming temporary barriers)

Temporary (Enhances, Diminishes (basically buffs and debuffs), time)

Body (Activating other traits, changing forms, healing/regenerating, cause hallucinations)

Unlike Elemental magic, there is no specific Deity that associates with one single type of manipulation magic.

As mana levels differ between life forms, there is also natural mana which are found in mostly food, stones, and other items. Mana objects are also natural and they include powder (can be obtain from crystals), crystals, and orbs. These objects are mainly used in modern architecture and inventions.

Religion; Gods and Devils

There isn’t exactly differing religions, only different affinities that may or may not be based on one’s heritage.

Verifa is the Almighty of the polyverse. An Almighty is an all-powerful being who create and govern their own polyverse. A normal Almighty does not possess emotions or more than one form like Verifa does, making her a defective Almighty. Because of this, the other Almighties refuse to speak with her. However, they will not attack her.

Verifa has an organization of deities to help her govern her universes. (For now, we’ll focus on only the main universe). These deities are of the Divine Order and the Divine Chaos. (Gods and Devils).

Polyverse, Universe

The setting is in the polyverse of Verifa. A polyverse is a collection of universes. The main universe of Verifa’s consists of 5. (So far the other 4 haven’t been established)

The world where mostly my cast lives in is Dragomir.

Dragomir is a world with 5 countries and 4 main oceans. The oceans are named after seasons (Spring Ocean, Summer Ocean, etc)

Each continent specializes in a Style (or in Luvena’s case, its lack of). Elgar is Physical. Allucio is Manipulation Magic. Magoslav is Elemental Magic. Yazhu is Creation and Combo.

Elgar is known as a land of the social. Its citizens have careers in fashion and military. Many of its cities are flashy and trendy, perfect for busy city life. This is the place where social media thrives on the most. It is also the country with the strongest militia and the most connections.

Allucio is very colourful. Its flourishing lands are thanks to its Earth-affinity creatures, who make sure that everything is pure and natural. Allucio is also known for its giant Cherry Blossom Tree, home to the Cherry Blossom Maidens. It’s one of the most well known landmarks of Dragomir and attracts many tourists. Its Ash Tree counterpart isn’t so well known though. There are 4 of these trees spread all around Allucio and the Maidens work behind the scenes rather than putting on a show. CB Maidens and Ash Maidens are not known to get along.

Magoslav is the country of Magic. Intellects and scholars from around the world travel here to visit the plentiful libraries of all sorts. It is also the home of Savage Territory, a land of dangerous vampires who have gone berserk, and Sommeil et Plume Library, an isolated place that’s rumored to have only the rarest books.

Yazhu is located mostly in the North, full of snow and ice. This country has the smallest landmass but is considered the biggest due to its underwater connections. You can find many Water-affinity people here as well as a different type of culture (similar to Eastern countries). One of the biggest cities is Xuejing, which has a large port both for ships and submarines to stop by.

Luvena is known as the Sealed Country. It has three layers: OuterClass City, Midlands, and InnerClass City. It is the most mundane out of the other countries and its citizens have no idea that there is an outside world. Nonhuman residents are extremely rare in Luvena and must keep their identity a secret. No one knows why Luvena chose to be sealed, or if it was the country’s choice at all.
