Just a pretty serving dish from the Meiji period. There is no manufacturer’s mark on it at all. When I asked her why, she said her family wasn’t fancy (I guess a closer translation is “prestigious”) enough, and the person who originally made it was a local artisan and never produced pieces that merited putting their name on it. This is just a “working class” serving plate, says my mom. It was made for her family in Kudamatsu. #meijiceramics #kudamatsu #odaclan #japaneseceramics (at Barstow, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_EIdABHuhB/?igshid=16x4kwcjgxfe9
