There’s a painting of ducks. Why is there a painting of ducks?

Just chilling in a lake, two of them. Are they ducks? The more I look the less I’m sure.

The one closest to me has red eyes and an opened beak, looking like he wants to sing. It has something pale in its mouth, resembling a flower, but is it?

The one further is more average, brown feathers and a light brown neck and black eyes containing wisdom unbeknownst to man. Why does such a normal looking duck so off putting? Perhaps it is the lack of reflection in the water.
