watching joel's perspective of the nether journey is SO funny. it's so clear etho and grian and gem are trying to do something privately and joel just won't leave. they're actively moving away from him when he goes to tell them he found the fortress, like you can see them running in the opposite direction before they clearly decide it's too shifty if they actually DO just leave him. they tell him to go bridge out on his own and then complain when he gets back too early. they hide from him and actively contemplate his murder fifty blocks from him and then they steal his food so he gets frustrated enough to leave on his own. it's like he introduced all his old friends to each other (boat boy, bad boy, family) and they became better friends with each other and then made a secret club and group chat that he's not a part of, but he doesn't know that they've been trying to get rid of him this whole time. and then they kill him and every single one of his teammates
