I'm not going to lie - I initially listened to this solely due to the fact that there was a gorilla on the cover art. Well played Oddfellows, you attracted the one fan who bases their listening/buying habits on gorillas. This is a fact: I own the following record,

Anyway, it just so happens that Oddfellows make good music. If the music hadn't been good, it wouldn't have earned the post. When I first heard "The Burden", I thought of early Parquet Courts. Then I saw the band was from Denton, Texas. Andrew Savage's early band, Teenage Cool Kids was also Denton based.

Apparently, Oddfellows originally formed in the 1990s - or as the Bandcamp page puts it: "Before The Marked Men, Mind Spiders, O-D-EX, High Tension Wires — hell, even before The Reds — there was Oddfellows." Now, the band is back together and releasing their debut album for Wild Honey/Dirtnap Records.
