‘There’s something... not quite right about that boy.’
(Oddgrim Idd)
'I will leave you a reminder. So you do not forget where you belong. So you do not forget whose creature you have become.’ transformation doodle! standard dark fairytale fare
tome sketchamabook draws #2. Oddgrim & Ivor
“Do you believe in monsters, Doctor? Like in the old fairytales?” ‘I am a woman of science, Mr Idd...’
Oddgrim, the youth sans a heart, attempts to cure his peculiar ailment by becoming patient to (and routinely testing the patience of) the fiery Doctor Green.
(it’s tempting to spill story details on here but I gotta’ resist. here’s more ‘oddgrim’ comic/writing project smush! I’m looking to buy some old medical books and plow through them for inspiration. the more I think about it, the more the story is taking a darker fairytale-esque turn (possible guro warnings coming up - nothing in bad taste, though... but I guess that’s subjective?), but it’s also more honest that way. finally feeling ready to spill out this story next year!)
tome sketchamabook draws page 1! ‘The Collector, Dreki’.
Dreki’s a Collector! What of? Horrible things by human standards; beautiful trinkets by hers. When she was just a little fish, a kind youth took pity on her and released her back into the ocean. Dreki, enamored, eventually pursued the youth and now prides herself on holding his heart. I mean, er, literally holding his heart. Yikes.
dreki’s the main antagonist of my ‘Oddgrim’ story/comic project (just submitted my final year of study proposal yesterday, so hopefully I can start on the comic next year... iiif it gets accepted ugh). she’s really fun to think about, all teeth and claw.
