Oddities Collection #1
How is your oddities collection going 👀
really wel!! its actually grown Too Big at this point and I really need to get a proper cabinet to start storing things in lol it anyone has links for affordable ones or diy suggestions feel free to shoot them my way!
I really dig the apothecary style of having everything be not only displayed but accessible and movable. I use a lot of my oddities in my art and so I like to be able to pick from my collection when I want to as opposed to putting them in a more "solely for display" kind of set up or the very spread out situation I have now where I have clusters of things all over
but here's some pics of one of my little setups rn
the revamped oddities shelf! now with fun new pieces!
I'm still working on it and itll probably keep evolving but this is where were at rn. and I gotta say I'm so happy with it!
this time around instead of doing a more "display" like arrangement I tried to give it a more realistic "storytelling" feel. I was watching an adam savage video recently where he talked about giving a piece a history and a purpose. who is using this, why, what would they need, ect. so I decided to try arranging it with that in mind.
my idea was to have it look like a shelf in the home/office of a traveling supernatural medic. someone who goes around dealing with supernatural problems and incidents, curing ailments and such. so theres some potions, ingredients, rocks, tarot cards, anatomy pieces and other various bits and bobs that I felt fit the theme.
the chest on the far left is meant to be interactive and a kind of "traveling kit" where the person keeps essentials and then could throw in anything extra they might need, close it up and take it with them. inside the little bag is a bunch of old money coins and polished gems as currency, as well as bottles, empty vials, candles, rope, a knife, and charms.
