The Odazooks - Making Friends

It was another day in the never ending frozen hell  that was life (well, afterlife) for the Odazooks., 

Hazel had grown bored with playing with the monster under her bed and decided to go outside to build a snow friend (as if she needed another frozen ‘person’ to talk to). Of course, you can tell a snow friend anything and they’ll just sit there and, um, listen. She had got pretty far along when Titus Evans came up the pathway that runs past Odazooks Farm.

Hazel lit up a little inside. “Hey, Mr.Titus!”  she yelled. 

“GAH!” he exclaimed; startled by her calling out his name.  He had not seen her floating near by. “D-Do I know you, little ghost -er- girl, um ghost girl?” Whatever he had been mulling over in his mind on his walk had suddenly vanished.

“Sure”, she said, “Well, um, no, actually. I think I saw you checking your mail and your name was on the box”.

“Well, it’s Mr. Evans and you shouldn’t spy on people, it’s not polite.”

“Oh, I wasn’t s.pying. I was just walking home from school. I’m Hazel. Hazel Odazooks. Can you help me build this snow friend? Pleeeeeeze?”

“Oh, you’re part of that family that froze to death. I’ve heard about all of you.”

‘Yeah”, Hazel looked at the ground and then looked up, “So, can you? Will you?”

Titus shivers, growing colder the closer she gets. “Is it even possible to get this cold?” he asks himself. “I, uh...” His teeth are chattering like crazy now. “th-think, I-I’m t-t-t too c-cold. mmm s-suddenly”

Hazel Explodes, “EVERYONE IS ALWAYS TOO COLD!!!”

“You better come inside, Coldie Locks!” She continued, “We always have a fire on. Doesn't help us at all but you’re alive. Maybe after you warm up, we can finish that snowfriend, ok?!”

“K-k k-k-k”.. Titus dashes inside and warms himself by the fire.

Hazel introduces Titus to the clan and once he comfortably toasty, everyone comes out to play in the snow before Titus has to run home. And Run he did.
