So, so far, there isn't much about this AU beyond these scenes that explore the slow-burn dynamic between the two of them aaaaand what i have written so far in my drafts. BUT-- I have a specific setup for them that helps guide me in how they are in this little story:

Marina is 19 years old and a senior in the mechanical engineering program. She started college very young because she’s a G&T (gifted and talented) student. As an extracurricular activity, she’s on the women’s soccer team and plays goalkeeper.

Pearl, on the other hand, is 22 years old and a senior in the economics program. She’s studying economics against her will because her parents are bankers (which is why she’s filthy rich) and they forced her to major in it (or she would be cut off from the inheritance lol). She’s a flyer for the Hooked, the cheerleading squad at Inkopolis College.

They met in high school, but were only able to hang out together for a year, since Marina soon after graduated early through an accelerated program for G&T students. And after about two and a half years, they reunited at Inkopolis College.

I wish I could say more, but then I'd be giving away WAY too many spoilers about what I want to show in the fanfics.
