Asks for your charactersss. the first four are for any of them because I'd like to know more!!
What's a hobby/subject they've got an interest in that people maybe wouldn't expect them to have?
2. Do they have routines they like to follow, or do they just do whatever? Any old habits left over from earlier stages in their life?
3. Do they have a favourite landscape/location? And do they have a least favourite place?
4. Is there any part of their backstory/lore that you're particularly happy with?? I love peeking behind the narrative curtain to see how other people do lore
5. will newton ever get a healthy amount of sleep and stop having so much caffeine? Please. I dread to think what its doing to him long-term.
willl be answering these for Newton and Evan as well :)! (I swear I have more characters but my thoughts turn to static if I try to think about them)
1. hmmm, most of Newton's interests and hobbies are predictable I feel, like puzzles and them dabbling in necromancy and computer science/engineering from time to time. is it surprising that they enjoy baking? nothing extravagant, just your basic pies (for pi day) and other treats they grew up with (like kaiserschmarrn.... yum)
Evan enjoys watching and feeding the birds on campus, but I really don't think that's unexpected, at most his peers may find it odd. (it would be the least odd thing about him) ohhh okay I've caught a brainworm. he'll pick up a new skill/hobby while he's recovering from having his mind tempered with (he used to find comfort in academics, but he's forced to take a break from it) something repetitive.
2. absolutely, Newton loves their routines. they eat the same breakfast every day, with a dedicated breakfast mug and everything. at times they still use their left hand as a dominant hand, I think that counts as a habit.
Evan.. makes up routines, then forgets them, makes new ones and then forgets those.. so really he does whatever the people around him are doing. he has a habit of staring at people, particularly when they sleep. not for any strange reasons, he's just making sure they're alright, but it frequently scares the shit out of whoever he's staring at. if conditioned responses count as habits, then he has so many.
3. Newton still has a soft spot for the view from their bedroom window growing up, they love seeing mountains in the distance. they don't like hospitals, it's bright and uncomfortable and you're never there for a good time. they've also never been fond of the living room in the house they grew up in
Evan likes parks, just your average park in the middle of the city, nothing special. also, Murphy's office. as for least.. oh yeah, he certainly has a least favourite place. that would be the warehouse he was taken to and forcefully kept in. I would add the facility where most of the experiments/treatments were done to this list, but his feelings about that place are more complicated than that.
4. I'm honestly happy with how Newton's revenge went! I put it off for a while because I wasn't totally sure what I wanted to do, but I think it all worked out :) and I don't know why, but I really like that they were killed by their parents? iirc it was one of the very first things that popped into my head when I created them. I can't imagine a Newton without it
Evan gets a more general answer, I am just so so pleased with how well his lore clicks into place! it helps that I discuss lore and ideas with my partner, who also has a handful of ocs with lore and relationships that are closely tied to my ocs. you'd think it would be one huge tangled mess but if you step back it's more like a tapestry in the process of being woven. if I had to pick something, I think it was an incredible move to let Evan interact with Kayne, it birthed an entire AU
5. I doubt his sleeping issues will ever go away entirely (I love projecting my own issues on him too much) but I will consider giving him a good few nights of rest (cuddling with Dr Onyx seems to do the trick). really he should just get (and importantly, take) meds, and maybe a hammer to the head. iffff there exists decaf coffee that tastes just as nice as caffeinated coffee, then he could be persuaded to limit his caffeine intake, he drinks coffee for the taste anyway (unless he's on a deadline, in which case he chugs it for the supposed energy it's meant to give him)
thank you for the ask!! these questions are so yummy
