sometimes she asks to look at him.  just to stare.  it was something her foster parents taught her, to help focus her senses.  focus on one thing about a person  &  things became more clear.  as she got older, the technique lost its usefulness, but it helps her stay grounded, relaxed.   (  plus it gives her an excuse to stare at him for as long as she needs who o ps kara isn’t complaining  )  

she’d rather talk about his family instead than her own.  if he asks about them, she’ll weasel her way out of it  &  change the subject almost immediately, not out of lack of comfort but she’d rather not think about what she had  &  what could have been.  being on earth was a reminder every day that her planet  &  family was gone.  its easier to not talk about it.

her own questions about the x-men are ENDLESS.  kara had spent what seemed like an eternity studying humans  &  they way they worked,  but mutants are new to her  &  its exciting.  they’re not aliens, but they’re not entirely human either,  &  she finds it beyond fascinating.  sometimes her questions are educated, sometimes not, but her intentions are always good.  

after a long day, they both just collapse.  neither one of them provides an explanation for their fatigue until its necessary ;  the understanding is unspoken but very present.  if one of them falls asleep, the other will see that their comfort is maintained until they’re both asleep, safe  &  sound.
