While Soren wasn't putting much stock in the rumors and thought that they were a case of things growing more exaggerated and desperate down the line, he still wished that they could go home. He hadn't wanted to attempt the summit in the first place and other than putting in time at a party, Soren wasn't exactly sure what they had accomplished.

Other countries knew they were still alive, he supposed there was that, but he didn't like the cost of it - extra guards as if their own troops weren't better, and their people being questioned like they weren’t loyal. Rumours had never been a thing Katharina enjoyed; she had heard her fair share of them and always ended up being about her husband chasing another woman’s skirts and, sadly, oft times were true which led to her less than convential means of handling the matter. But those ways wouldn’t be of use to her now, lest she found the would be assassin trying to harm another to put them out of their miserable life. 

And then, there was the plague. Was it really back? Why were they panicking over one ill peasant? It was ridiculous to her; the commoners were ill and dying often, they lived and far worse conditions than nobility and royalty alike, so why go into hysteria over one sick farmer. 

“ What do you make of all the rumours? ” she asked their top advisor; she may have yet to figure out what to think of him, but it didn’t stop her from having a conversation with Julian.

In the past, having a mistress was a simple, agreed upon affair with his wife, it was a routine that they followed and were able to co-exist with, but in the time sense the plague, things had continued to go terribly, unfortunately wrong in the private lives of the Scottish royal family. Robert wasn't stupid, contrary to what some of his previous actions implied, and knew that his rule was in question even before the latest mistake he'd made.

Being known to not be a united front with his wife was certain to set people talking and to urge on those that wished to cause trouble for him, and that was what brought him to the French king. It seemed to him that Renaud Bourbon always knew a little bit about everything, but perhaps most importantly, he was a man with a wife and mistress as well and perhaps that left him in a position to give some advice.
