caved and watched the first episode of off campus and i can’t believe how much hype this show has and is getting.
someone said it’s like a rated R disney channel show and that perfectly describes it.
my gripes (WARNING: hot takes):
-garrett is just a jerk, especially towards women, and is very self centered and egotistical (even though his choices make no sense)
-all of the characters are so surface and boring and are just walking stereotypes, which is both the actors and writers fault because neither are good.
-everything about the hockey is so backwards. garrett plays presumably D1 hockey (considering he’s drafted and wants to go pro), yet not one of his teammates are drafted? how if garrett labelled “generational” if he hasn’t even played in the NHL yet? why is he still playing in the NCAA if he’s 21 and seems good enough to go to the NHL for years now? like yes garrett don’t listen to your retired NHL star father talk to you about hockey, it’s not like he has any advice like can be beneficial for you achieving your dreams.
(also how did garrett get through AAA, juniour, and all the training to go pro if he doesn’t even like the sport?)
-so many details about hockey are incorrect and so fixable. like why is the linesman dropping the puck at center? garrett should be automatically ejected given that he got a five minute major for boarding according to hockey rules (at the very least benched), the shots counter just showing that the goalie had a bad game, and even with the whole partying and drinking on the night before a game as well.
-why would hannah even want the guy if he only wants girls that are taken? like hello red flags hannah…
-yes, garrett cannot have a girlfriend because he cannot be distracted from hockey, but he can drink, party, and hook up with multiple different women…(not to mention the fact that multiple irl players date throughout their entire careers)…makes sense…
sorry i just wanted to complain about it lmk if im wrong and should just trust the continuation of the show!
