Today im going to talk about laundry. So, one of the many "off grid" ideas for washing laundry is to use a mop bucket. This method appealed to me because A.) it works great paired with an item i already own called Breathing Mobile Washer, B.) I love that it's on wheels, and C.) it comes with a decent wringer. Wringing by hand is not only very tiring, but can also damage clothing. In the past I have tried washing clothes in a regular 10 gallon bucket and have found the opening to be too narrow, the bucket to be too unweildy, and dumping water out to be very messy. Recently I switched to using a sink and handwashing rather that using the mobile washer, but a sink is not something we are going to have on the road. The alternative to that would be buying a collapsible wash basin (which we did) however it is not practical for us to carry around a table strong enough to hold a tub filled with water. All in all the breathing mobile washer is preferred because it saves my back (i can keep it straight), whereas handwashing always seems to require some degree of leaning over the sink or wash basin, resulting in lower back issues. So hopefully this mop bucket laundry system will be a gamechanger. The main con is its bulkly size. For now we will be keeping it in the storage unit after we move out, but hopefully once we get a trailer we will find a spot for it so it can be with us from campsite to campsite. In the meantime, my plan is to do lightly soiled clothes in one of our many collapsible buckets by hand (every day), and save the dirty work clothes for the trips to the storage unit (once or twice a week).
