i don't know why else they'd cut links and pends, especially pends which is like Satan to yugiboomers, if not to appeal to that crowd, even if i don't disagree with your points, really. That aside, I've thought YGO needed new formats for years too (MD desperately needs it) but I do kinda get night terrors of something like this doing too well and basically pulling a MTG Commander to the game. iykyk. i would probably quit this game entirely if that happened lol
Oh no, I’m sure the original intent of cutting Links and Pends is to appeal to the crowd that hates those mechanics and yugiboomers
But looking at early “best decks” of the format so far, even after the updated Point List released today, this format is NOT going to appeal to the type of yugiboomers who just want to summon a Blue Eyes and set a mirror force and activate pot of greed. Like at all.
I probably should’ve clarified it better, but there are still combo-heavy decks and a good amount of complexity here that would make them vomit. The presence of this along with relatively cheap handtraps (which they also hate) means that this is not the Yugiboomer haven that people are saying it is (unlike Early Duel Links, for example, which did that job perfectly) If they wanted to appeal exclusively to boomers, they should’ve made handtraps way more expensive on top of the pends/link bans.
Yugiboomers are gonna leave very fast once they realize what this format is about, which imo, is the best case scenario for the development of Genesys in the future
At the moment, this is a TCG exclusive, so I doubt it would cause product or game design to warp around it. I feel like we have to wait until the Full Genesys YCS next year to see if this is something Konami is dedicated to supporting.
If it does, I hope that they implement Links and Pends into it at some point, especially if they notice the audience is a bunch of lapsed modern players and not a bunch of boomers. That’s the hope I’m holding out for at least

She just wanted to stare at him, instead she took her phone out and snapped a quick picture before he got embarrassed, “A candid shot for all your internet followers.”
I have over 800+ characters for this one universe I co-write and have the strong urge to go through them all and figure how who is a cat or dog person, whether they’re lefty or righty and what type of ice cream flavor they prefer. This naturally is a sign that I’m absolutely off the fucking wall insane.

"I'll meet you at the car." And started towards the exit. Anna scanned her key card, checking out of the building when she was suddenly face to chest with a substantial blockage in the doorway.
"Oh, shit, excuse me." A smooth voice said as the blockage disappeared out of Anna's personal space.
She looked up to find a man now outside the building, holding the door open for her to exit. He was dressed in team-issued navy-blue sweats with a matching AU baseball cap.
'He's tall.' That was the first thing Anna thought. 'Perfect build for a baseball player' was the second. Which was true. If she had to guess, this guy stood at at least 6'3 and had a solid body. Wide shoulders, narrow waist and legs thick with muscles.
"Like what you see?" Anna's eyes flashed up to his face now. So maybe she had stared a little bit too long...
"I've seen better." Was her quick-witted response, unfazed, as she walked through the doorway. The arrogant smirk on the guy's face only widened. She could see some shaggy blonde hair sticking out from under his hat hanging in his hazel eyes. In all honestly, he was quite good looking. 'Understatement of the year.'
"Watch out for her Bjorgman, she's a feisty one." Anna heard Flynn call as she walked down the path to her car and away from the handsome douche.
Well shit. I posted that I hadn’t written ANYTHING for chapter 16 and then I just pulled this out of my ass??? Quarantine WHO? Some more baseball jargon so sorry about that.
