I had the privilege to spend this past week at Barr Lake State Park for my Certified Interpretive Guide course. I had the opportunity to develop my skills in creating and implementing public outdoor and environmental education programs. You know the saying, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take"? Well in #discgolf , sometimes you try to take a shot too hard and end up with your disc stuck 20 feet from the ground, trapped between a cottonwood tree and its hateful bark. As I sat back capturing my epic failure on camera, I was entertained by Jimmy's efforts to slay this proverbial dragon for me. Other platitudes of wisdom quickly surfaced in this state of affairs, like "more than you can shake a stick at," "what goes up must come down," and "pride cometh before the fall." To this last point, I thankfully was able to narrowly escape from the stick hurdling towards my face as I snapped this photo before my disc was jostled loose. Took the hubby out for an easy pedal down the Pikes Peak Greenway today. Good chance to wake up my legs for this upcoming race season. He seemed to enjoy himself as well, until it started to hail and the clouds opened up in liquid vengeance. Lovely motorists seemed to enjoy splashing my face in the flooded puddles on the road. I still couldn't help but smile. When I went out to the archery range yesterday, I started at 20 yds, aimed my bow looking over my arrow, and took my first shot in a few months. The joy of being back behind my bow immediately faded as I saw my arrow sail towards the target...and 3 FEET to the right! How could I make such a terrible shot? Well, it's been so long since I've shot my compound bow vs. some training bows for kids that I kinda forgot about my peeps sight. It was then I realized it had been far too long since I have been behind the strings!
