It's been a year since the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture has opened its doors on Sept. 24, 2016 in Washington, DC. 2 MILLION visitors later!!! A major milestone has been accomplished! The donation of Jay Dee's equipment to the Smithsonian's #NMAAHC by Maureen Yancey and the family, stands not only as a great testament for the City of Detroit, Slum Village's Legacy and the Yancey family but as a victorious testament for hip hop history as well. To know that people from all around the world, all races, all ages, all nationalities inside and outside of the US have had the opportunity to experience walking into this phenomenal building to listen, learn, observe and receive knowledge of African-American history and culture is something truly great to take pride in. Its even more amazing to know that our beloved brother James Dewitt Yancey, Jay Dee aka J Dilla's legacy will continue to inspire many more generations to come. Thanks to his mother "Madukes" for donating his equipment to the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture. His equipment will be permanently enshrined on the Inaugural floor exhibition inside of the museum entitled "Musical Crossroads" with several other noted musicans, artist and dignitaries. Jays Light will Shine Forever! #JamesDewittYancey #JayDee #JDilla #OfficialMadukes #OfficialJDilla #NMAAHC #MusicalCrossroads #ThisIsHipHop #MakingHistory
