In honoring the men and women who fought so valiantly for the freedoms that we enjoy today...I’m honoring a man who fought on both sides of the Atlantic (he was first generation U.S. born, but the family returned to Italy shortly after his birth...at age 17 he was drafted into the Italian army). At 25, Raul returned to the U.S. and enlisted in the Navy. #secondclassseaman #WWII #UnitedStatesNavy I never got the chance to meet him, he passed before my parents had married, but words from those who knew of him spoke fondly. He had quite the sense of humor and was a jack of all trades...and funny enough at one point in time a candy man (at Cadbury)...last week I stumbled across a folder (#officialrecords) revealing some #hiddentreasures Thank you Nonno for your service ❤️ #DDay #Rememberance #Proud
