Steve, after a little while of thinking, pulls his phone out of his pocket. Even though it’s chilly and he doesn’t have any gloves, he holds the phone to his ear, taking short, quick steps, and speaks in a hushed tone.
"Bucky, babe, so don’t freak out, and don’t say anything. Just—- I’m like two streets away, okay, and I’m pretty sure I’m being followed. This guy’s been tailing me since I left the old folk’s home, and I mean it could just be a coincidence but he’s been the same distance behind me the whole time, so… And I’d run, y’know, like fake a phonecall from my ma and just run, but I’m in my stupid fucking skinny jeans, and I don’t have my inhaler…”
Bucky's on his feet in like two seconds, phone pressed against his ear almost painfully. He doesn't even think to grab a jumper or his jacket (or use the front door, that is to say) and hurries to his window to climb out of it and down the fire escape. "I'm there in one minute, okay, just keep walking as though nothing is wrong. Maybe it really is just a coincidence, but I'm coming nonetheless -- just to see you in that gorgeous skinny jeans, you know," he adds to calm him down a bit, even though his own heart his racing that quickly that he thinks he might know what Steve's feeling when his arrhythmia attacks again.
