Respectfully, I am fascinated by you. Am Caught between fear of being a cringe failure in your ask box and wanting you to humble me (perhaps even rock my shit).
Um um uhhh um I have lots of questions for you and a lot of them are kinda gay. But here's an easy one :3
Any songs/artists you think more people need to be listening to ?
Thank you for your time :3
being a cringe failure in my ask box is near inevitable, do not assume you’ll be an exception. i fear wanting to be humbled is not even remotely uncommon either. also, don’t act like you’re stuck between the two, they aren’t mutually exclusive. you can (and will) embarrass yourself here with lofty ambitions of being put in your place all you want, but the mistake you’ve made is telling me that. i do not take shots at easy targets, nor do i particularly care about what you want from me. something something… low hanging fruit. it bores me. i have standards, so this is as much of a shit-rocking as you’ll get. being so painfully obvious is pathetic in a way i refuse to entertain.
questions are… fine. to answer yours, yes and no. most of my recommendations are geared towards other music theory nerds, choral/orchestral/jazz musicians, and those generally interested in career paths similar to mine. for example- i think there are plenty of modern composers that deserve more attention, especially in academia.
if anything, i have artists i absolutely do NOT recommend, either due to problematic things they’ve done or harmful vocal habits. the former of those reasons needs no explanation, and the latter- jesus fuck, i hate when i can hear someone destroying their voice. number one pet peeve. then again, my opinion of any one person can be permanently tanked if their voice grates on me.
god bless Muse and their plethora of juicy ass bass lines 🤝🤝 would also recommend Honey Trap Aftermath by Diablo Swing Orchestra, idk what their bassist's name is but he needs his dick sucked immediately for that one
yeah that fucks hard. the bit of slap bass in the middle especially.
excellent recommendation. good job.
*boop*
Hiiii~
absolutely not.
is F3 to F6 a good vocal range?
“good” is always subjective in the context of voice. it’s also not something that’s easy to determine based on what very little information i’ve been given. i can’t hear the voice in question moving through passaggi, nor can i gauge tone quality in the range you’ve listed. having three full octaves really doesn’t mean shit if only one sounds decent.
what i can say- it sits in a good spot on the staff. if the resonance doesn’t completely suck, then it could be considered very loosely ”””good”””. that’s still subjective. remember, being able to hit a note does not mean that note is healthy to hit. straining to phonate through those three octaves will harm more than help in the long run.
and fucking christ, i hate listening to a voice that sounds like it’s trying too hard.
you seem mean… but in a hot way (i don’t know if i’m attracted or scared of it)
you have wonderful observation skills- see, that would be because i am mean.
terribly sorry if i’ve done anything to insinuate that the opposite is true.
Look to the middle, see? Then go up two and a half floors, down half a floor, down a whole floor, then down another half. Repeat and repeat, but I'm still trapped. See? Major problem. What am I?
i am not dignifying this with a proper response.
opinion on tchaikovsky's 1812 overture with canons?
a very loud ‘classic’. the cannons are pretty funny though.
regarding symphonies with bizarre instrumentation, i prefer mahler’s 6th with the big ass hammer. the score calls for a ridiculous assortment of auxiliary percussion too and that makes me laugh. also hammers are sexy.
