Resting with her eyes shut, legs crossed, and hands placed gently in her lap, Rhaya sat unmoving at the edge of a clearing surrounded by trees. Out here, even on the bare fringes of the wilderness, the silence was nearly deafening in comparison to the roar of the ocean winds and the boom of canon fire she was accustomed to.
But beneath her, the earth hummed with life.
Between her duties as an officer and more recently a seat holder on the pirate council, communing with nature was not an opportunity frequently granted to the young druid. She had almost forgotten how peaceful it could be.
In her meditative state Rhaya was able to sense nature around her on a far more primal level, tendrils of consciousness spreading out like roots to connect with her surroundings. In the dirt below she felt the insects and other small rodents who made their homes there, and further out she could feel the aged trees, their growth somewhat stunted from the salted air that swept in off the coast; and even further beyond that ‒‒
...Oh.
Gold eyes shot open and the serene expression she wore fell away, replaced by bemusement.
Further into the forest, a very peculiar being was moving around on two feet.
After only a brief pause of consideration she hefted herself to her feet, stretching the stiffness from her limbs while regaining her bearings. Upon pinpointing the direction in which she had sensed the almost otherworldly aura she set off determinedly towards them, only pausing long enough to retrieve her cloak off the ground to slip it on as she went.
