Ariel gave out a long, heavy yawn, drawing in a deep breath once she opened her eyes. Feeling a weight on her stomach, she looked down to find Grace curled up against her. They must have fallen asleep before the movie ended.
Feeling Jefferson still asleep under her, she gave a smile as she nudged him slightly. "I think she's trapped us." She said, once he'd woken up. "We should get her to bed."

Ariel put an arm around Grace, her hand rubbing the girl's arm to soothe her. "You can sleep here with Jeff and --" she gave a slight wince at her blunder. It was a harmless blunder. She was still getting used to referring to Jefferson as anything outside 'Jeff' or 'barnacle'. "with your father and I." She glanced down at her. "Do you want to talk about it?"

Verse where she's her goddaughter: Ariel is fiercely protective of her goddaughter. Jefferson was her best friend and someone that was there for her when she was alone. So of course she's going to love and protect Jefferson's kid as if she were her own.
Verse where she's her daughter: Grace is the most important person in the world to her. One of the most devastating things she had to suffer through while under Ursula's rule was to know her daughter had to grow up without a mother. Like Jefferson, she also deals with the guilt that she wasn't there for their kid.
