“It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.” ~oflaurelwreaths
☼ “Though, Daphne, it also does not bode to think too far into the future and forget out past.” The god looked at his perfectly clean hands, normally bright eyes now dark. “I have killed thousands and made even more suffer. And while my hands are clean, they should be blood red and plague green. I have breathed sweet, purified, honey-scented air, and thick, choking air, and now I don’t feel a difference anymore.”
The blond shook his head, running his hands through his golden tresses. “The earth has changed, as have the mortals. Now they are uncaring, impure and I like all others are at fault, in some way, some form. I am not allowed to stop foreseen futures of the unfortunate. I am an all powerful god, a prince of all, and yet I cannot muster the courage to speak up against the things I am not allowed to do. Instead, I sit back like a coward, a sick man with a black heart.”
And yet his eyes were filling with salted tears. “I know how each mortal lives and dies and I cannot do a damned thing of it, Daphne. Do you not understand? I murder by mortal hands and I blow lies into large proportions, making humanity hell to endure. And yet what do I do each damned day? I raise the sun to the east and fall to the west, I create music and eloquent poems and yet day and day passes by with nothing more than being spoiled. Daphne, do you not think that such a responsibility on a God was meant on purpose? So father could see the same that he is, and shame it away?”
What was he doing. Talking to a naiad about his issues when she likely had plenty of her own. Having to listen to every given command given without a say. And even while he tried to be the best of them all, he couldn’t achieve it. Something always held him back. “While the water you flow is not the same with time passing, I always am just the same. I am cruel, sickening and heartbroken. And that’s all I can seem to be without putting on the happy facade I always have. And now I have made more of a mess just blabbering on about senseless things.”
