Angelgard Prison | Ardyn Unchained
Noctis, Prompto, Gladiolus, and Ignis camped on the small island just off of Galdin Quay with the intention of exploring it and learning its secrets. The entire place glowed in the night under the power of the runes that protected all havens across Lucis. No daemons could ever have set foot there. Or so it seemed.
Ignis went back after dinner to the locked door just on the inside of the structure and examined it for the fourth time that day. No one else had bothered to join him; Prompto was asleep, Noct told his advisor he was obsessed, and Gladio was the least interested in the locked door of them four of them. The runes of the room glowed faintly even in the soft light of the lantern Ignis held before him. There was something underlying the blue glow, however. Something darker, fainter.
The advisor flipped the switch on the lantern and was thrown into pitchy blackness. The runes’ glow steadily intensified, around the edges of the blue, a blending of purple-black appeared. The darker runes curled and bent under the brighter light of the haven runes. Ignis traced and studied them for a long time. The longer he remained, the brighter they seemed to become, summoned forward under his attention to their details.
Just before dawn, as the sky was gently turning pink on the ocean horizon, Ignis discovered the answer. The ruin wall with the dark runes cracked sharply, air rushed into and out of the crease. Darkness licked at the edges of the room. And the advisor stepped back, apprehensive but fascinated.
He did it--but what had he unleased?
