Of the 27/50 books I read this year, only six managed to catch my attention and my affection. 

- House of Salt and Sea by Erin A. Craig- A murder mystery meets Twelve Dancing Princesses. My Review

- Four Dead Queens by Astrid Scholte- Another murder mystery only surrounding the queens of four kingdoms, each with their own traits and expertise. My Review

- Teen Titans: Raven by Kami Garcia and Gabriel Picolo- Ever see those cute illustrations of the Teen Titans? Those were done by the guy who illustrates this graphic novel about Raven’s backstory. Kami Garcia explains the origins of our beloved Raven. But there’s still more to learn. (My Review for this was litereally just.. “I Need More.”...) 

- Crown of Feathers by Nicki Pau Preto- A wanna-be rider disguises herself as a boy in order to escape her abusive sister and live her dream--to be a phoenix rider. That’s right. PHOENIX. RIDER. THEY RIDE PHOENIXES! What else is there to love! My Review

- Tea Dragon Society by Katie O’Niell- A cute short graphic novel about dragons and parties and tea. Shut up. It’s cute. Go read it. (The Review for this one is litereally: “ Super cute! Both the art and the story and I NEED MORE! TELL ME THERE WILL BE MORE!!”) 

- The Darkest Legacy by Alexandra Bracken- By far one of my most anticipated reads that absolutely was what I was expecting. It takes place years after The Darkest Minds series and is told by our beloved Suzume. My Review

Blind Date With a Book?

Hey guys! So I’ve been kind of on a hiatus because of school and work and I’m not quite back yet, but I was thinking... I have quite a few books I would like to unhaul and I need ideas on how to go about doing it. I would love to do a giveaway of them, but honestly, that’s a lot of postage that I can’t really afford to pay. I thought about donating them too which is probably what I’ll end up doing...

...but I had an idea. I thought about doing a Blind Date with A Book thing, but maybe call it Blind Date with a Book Unhaul. 

Here’s the problem: I could technically do that as a giveaway too, but postage is pretty expensive so I thought about selling them, but I don’t know where I would sell them... My cousin suggested a community library but there aren’t any nearby and I doubt our HOA will allow us to build one... 

So I’ve come to you guys for help! Please let me know what you think!

My Thoughts: So... I'm not one for contemporaries. I tend to gear towards the impossible things. The high fantasy, the science fiction, the urban fantasies. But two authors--so far--have shown me that contemporaries--Especially the fluffy ones--can be just what I need sometimes. Foolish hearts is a contemporary about a girl named Claudia who accidentally overhears a breakup between her all girl's school's most iconic couple. That moment sent her senior year sideways. After writing a paper with Iris, a girl known for being rather harsh and one half of the broken couple, Claudia and Iris are made to participate in their school's co-op play of Midsummer Night's Dream and a bunch of shenanigans ensue.  This book is cute, funny, and incredibly relatable. It's about making new friends, falling in love, accepting that you're allowed to be loved, and holding on to those you think are slipping away due to a change. I laughed. I cried. I'm definitely Claudia because I too... am a moron. The characters are fun and different. Paige is super sweet and supportive of everyone, Iris learns to be a little more selfless and to open up to others, Gideon is.. well Gideon. Lena's the girl who means well but can come off as selfish. And so many more. I really enjoyed this book, you guys. Its the first one in a while that's really gripped me and made me text my cousin as I was reading. If you like fluffy, fun, and heartwarming--but not impossible--stories. This is the one to read.

Challenge two of the lunar chronicles!

I would have to say that this young woman has been a pretty big role model and inspiration to me. Christina Grimmie RIP was an insanely talented singer and singing has always been one of my dreams. I started watching her YouTube videos when I went off to college in 2010 and to see her accomplish so much in the amount of time she was given on this earth absolutely astonishes me. Getting to meet her in march on her 22nd birthday no less was a dream come true. She had always been so down to earth and completely herself no matter where she was or who she was with. She taught herself keyboard. She always strived towards her goals in life and pushed herself to get where she wanted to be. She had an amazing heart and always helped causes that were way bigger than herself. It’s almost been a year since I met her and almost a year since she was shot and killed. Her music is still being released and movies she filmed are still coming out for her fans. She is still being an inspiration to me and I’m sure many other women like me. Teamgrimmie never forget
