PLACES TO BE with @ofpearls
It’s 2AM and Saebi’s wearing her crocs and Chanmi’s hoodie in the hallway. She snuck out of her hotel room, telling herself that it’ll be a quick run to get takeaway from the restaurant that’s near the hotel they’re staying at. In and out, not longer than thirty minutes. No witnesses.
She’s almost at the elevator, but then a door to one of the rooms open right in front of her. Saebi stops for a second to recognize the girl as Seo Areum, and she lets out a breath. Of course it is. Why wouldn’t Seo Areum, the nation’s first love, be looking like an indie film version of a haunting right now?
Saebi’s immediate instinct is to run away. While she knows of her senior, she doesn’t know her, apart from the songs she sings and the image she holds. And yeah, Saebi’ll admit that she’s heard things around the company building. Areum’s described as a perfectionist. The type who sends back her own vocal mixes. Who analyzes her lyrics so she can sing it with exact emotion. Who reminds Saebi of the captain in her high school’s debate club, who ruined her life with one sentence. So if Areum’s the kind of girl who would snitch, Saebi’s the kind of girl who gets snitched on. It’s a dynamic.
She doesn’t run, though. Instead, she does a 90-degree bow, puts on her cutest smile, like a junior who wants to be doted on. “Sunbaenim,” Saebi tilts her head, dragging the last letter. “Where are you going out so late?”
