to me taxi cab is one of the most meaningful songs. ever. for many reasons. first because it’s full of hope, second because it sort of gives me a sense of peace, and third because i think it’s about things i believe in. this is just my point of view, of course. i’m just going to talk about the last lines because they’re the ones that stuck to me the most.
we’re driving toward the morning sun
where all your blood is washed away
and all you did will be undone
'driving toward the morning sun' gives me the idea of a new beginning, like once the night is over, the sun comes up and we try again ('truce' refference)
'where all your blood is washed away' makes me think of how, when we try again, our body forgets everything we did in the past, or at least it tries to. it's a fresh start.
finally, ‘all you did will be undone’ is about how it doesn’t really mean much anymore who we used to be, or the mistakes we made, or how much we hurt people we loved or ourselves. we’re getting another chance, we aren’t really going anywhere new, so we don’t need to be afraid, we’re just going home.
basically, to me, this part of the song talks about how we get thousands of chances at life, and how death means just going home for a while and then trying again.
this is so long i’m so sorry i just love this song. also i’m sorry if this doesn’t make much sense, english isn’t my native language.
