Don’t open them until Christmas Day.” Mireya added lightly but also firmly, offering him some neatly wrapped boxes. One contained baked goods, like holiday cupcakes and cookies, and another had items for work like holy water and other supplies he might need. The third included a simple teddy bear. She couldn’t think of anyone who needed a cuddle more than the Hellblazer, after all, and it wasn’t always appropriate for the accidental Queen of Hell to be giving him one.

She couldn’t be entirely sure he was watching her, and she hadn’t gotten this far by being careless.  Granted, he didn’t look like Theodore’s usual’s hires, but considering what had happened with the last of his men to whom she had been introduced, Susan wouldn’t blame her father for diversifying his workforce a bit. 

She tried to study the man, to memorize details in case she saw him again, but she had very little patience for such tasks so she resorted to a far easier strategy.  Smiling boldly, Susan strode toward the stranger as if greeting an old friend and only when she was close enough to be heard only by him said, “My father sent you to find me, didn’t he?”
