❛ I stayed up to talk to you. ❜ -diem ok this one is for real
⚔️ 《 DIEM AND ALISTAIR 》
ROMANTIC STARTERS. @ofthedas
His first thought had been ‘why’ but he refrained from actually letting that leave his mouth. Most of the people around Skyhold had taken to letting him be, which wasn’t uncommon. He was doing his best to keep his head down, despite finding himself over indulging in ale nearly every night at the Herald's Rest. If he drank enough, he could sometimes block out the calling of Darkspawn for a short amount of time, at least until the drunk feeling burned away and he was left sober once more. Alistair was far from a drunk, but sometimes one had to do what they could to hear the silence. Sitting with his legs dangling over the edge of the battlement wall, he looked over his shoulder at the Inquisitor, patting the spot beside him. He was holding a bottle of spiced wine, the only thing he could get his hands on to bring with him outside and once she was seated, offered it to her. “You didn’t have too. I’ve grown used to being alone at night.” He knew it sounded different than how he had meant it, but he’d let her come to her own conclusions. “It’s so quiet here at night. You’ve really made this a place where people feel safe.” There were still guards patrolling, but he was glad to know that Cullen was no longer the Templar he had once met at the Circle, he had grown into his role as Commander.
Alistair’s lips curved as he shifted so he could face her, the chiled air kissing his cheeks and tinting them a shade of pink. She was hardly dressed in the warmest garments to be outside and he found himself shrugging his own cloak off that he wore and he scooted close to drape it around her shoulders. They were close, enough that he could feel the warmth of her breath on his face. Diem was beautiful, he wasn’t a fool and had noticed that right away. He’d seen plenty of attractive women but she was different. He’d taken note of the curve of her plump lips, wondering how she’d taste if he leaned in and stole a kiss. He wondered what kind of noises she would make if – he had to stop, swallowing as he leaned back and let himself breath in a gulp of cold air. He needed to be careful. “Was there something, in particular, you wanted to speak about? If not, I could tell you a story about this time I had a mabari steal my pants.”
