Gallery artist Jesse Krimes’ monumental work “Apokaluptein” is currently on view as part of the O.G. exhibition at 525 West 24th St. in New York. Krimes surreptitiously produced Apokaluptein on prison bedsheets (39 in total) over a four year period of incarceration. The O.G. exhibition is on view through February 25. Gallery artist Jesse Krimes’ work “Purgatory” includes over 300 small portraits rendered on pieces of prison-issued soap. Without access to art materials while in solitary confinement, Krimes created the portraits in “Purgatory” with ink that he lifted from newspapers using hair gel. It will run concurrently with the debut of the HBO film O.G. starring Tony and Emmy award winning actor Jeffrey Wright. The exhibition will include two of Krimes’ highly-acclaimed works, Apokaluptein and Purgatory, and work by Russell Craig.
