Okay, I'm not asking for spoilers for AWOL but I got to ask how was the pacing? And did you feel like they respected both Digg and Felicity's stories this episode because I have been super worried about that

Excellent question! It’s just the sort that I’ll actually answer. :)

1) The pacing was pretty good. The big problem of 4x10 for me was pacing, and I didn’t have that problem at all with 4x11. 

2) Yes, I felt that Digg and Felicity’s stories were by and large respected.

If you had the choice what female tv character from another show would you pair with Burton Guster and would Shawn approve?

I struggled to answer this. But Quinn James (from one tree hill) came into mind for some weird reason. 

She’s beautiful, loyal, kind and at the same time funny and extremely silly. Because she grew up in the 80s, she would totally understand all the weird 80s references Gus and Shawn likes to throw out. And after a while she offers some obscure fact that will only make Gus like her more. She loves the random break into songs that the gang always does but she cannot hold a tune to save her life so she ends up just listening to them. She often joins them in their food hunts (although she draws the line at snow cones for breakfast) She realises early on that getting into a relationship with Gus means getting into a relationship with Shawn as well, because those two are inseparable. And she doesn’t mind. Shawn and her developed a friendship that is completely separate from Gus. Plus, she love Juliet. Juliet’s strength reminds her so much of her little sister. 

Would Shawn approve? Not in the beginning. Because he doesn’t think anyone is good enough for his best friend. And Gus has been hurt too many times. All Shawn wants for Gus is a woman who makes Gus happy and Quinn does that. It doesn’t hurt that she is not afraid to be silly.

Great post about Digg being the moral barometer. What's interesting about Digg is how he really emphasizes Honor and a sense of Duty and reminded Felicity of this in 3x22 while in the same episode Felicity held him back from almost pumbling the gang member. I love how they're both moral compasses but can be that for each other when the other needs it as well as everyone else. What I love about Diggle is the contradictions because it's what makes him fully realized. Love discussing Diggle! :)

Digg is definitely fun to discuss. I think he's overlooked far too often, and I'm super excited for his role in the HIVE plot. David Ramsey deserves more to do than he's been given in the past, and I like what I've seen so far in Season 4. I haven't necessarily enjoyed it all, but I think that he's been set up for a solid arc that will certainly last longer than a Very Special Episode or two. I hope that we'll have lots more to discuss about him over the next 20 episodes.

Or we could just talk about those cannon balls that he calls biceps. Good lord, Mr. Ramsey.

I don't understand the writers mind set when it comes to Quentin. He seems to devolve every season instead of evolve. I hated him in season one but when there was actual character growth I fell in love with him in season two and early season three I was sad there was so little of him; but they seemed to do everything they could to devolve him since the BC arc and I see they have still kept him the hypocritical, Oliver hating, vengeance proned character they seem to prefer to write. I'm confused

As far as I’m concerned, Arrow is Oliver’s show, and all of the other characters are supporting. That said, there’s supporting a la John Diggle and Felicity Smoak and Laurel Lance, and then there’s supporting a la Walter Steele and Ted Grant and Quentin Lance. I don’t think that Quentin has ever even approached being a main character enough for story development to actually be about him. He’s a character that serves at the writers’ leisure rather than one with a charted evolution (or devolution). He’s plot first, personality second.

I did really like him from around the end of Season 1 through until he went on his anti-Arrow vendetta in the second half of Season 3, but he crossed a line with me in how he dealt with Roy’s “death.”

I agree. Though really Digg does have a sense of humor but it’s more dry and sarcastic and Flarrow was the first time we saw a real funny Diggle.

I think they all have that very deadpan humor. We’re dipping into Oliver’s more this year, lol. I think they’re all funny and have a sense of humor, but I find all of their humor very similar. Felicity’s is different among them. It’s why Diggle and Oliver loved her in S1.

I also hated Guilty, oh boy did I HATE it! After Sara(which completely disrespected Delicity imo) this was at the time the only Arrow episode I hated until you know what arc lol. I HATE about season three is the ooc way they'd write Digg or Oliver or Felicity to prop Laurel or Ray or Roy. This better not happen in season four or I'm out. Laurel, Thea or Curtis better be here to prop the core three because I can't take it the other way around.

I can definitely sympathize about disliking when characters are written to be unrecognizable in service of a plot and/or character. It drives me crazy. I’ve drifted away from creative writing in recent years, but I can’t imagine doing that to my characters. I don’t want anybody written to prop anybody; it’s just bad writing, and I think that we all deserve a more carefully crafted product. 

Hopefully, Season 4 will be better that you’ll stick around and I’ll be less of a grouch than I was in Season 3. :)

Hmmm, then I'm lost lol. Has Caity been on the Arrow set since 4x05?

I know she was on set for 4x05 for sure. I think 4x07 too? That hasn’t been confirmed though. Only 4x05 was confirmed for Caity. And Sara will be gone by 4x08/4x09, so I really don’t know how they plan to resolve this.
