Some of ya'll dont understand how much gender dysphoria and feeling like you're born in the wrong body affects your overall mental state at EVERY stage and it shows
If i had to perform masculinity 24/7 (or in my case, femininity) because i was scared id be laughed at i would have my walls up and dissociate too (and i was, and i did)
I do think Jax's case is more nuanced considering everyone accepts Zooble but i also can't blame her for that because im my case, even with knowing my mom would support me (she knew i was pansexual for a lot longer than trans and even took me to a Pride Parade after I told her) it still took a while year of agonizing over how to breach the topic for me to say anything, despite having a whole ass agender flag over my bed on full display.
Jax would be accepted without a doubt but considering that the last person she came out to either laughed at her or died (because of her own doing, whether it was intentional or not) and was also forced into two very uncomfortable situations regarding her identity (the maid dress and the torture sequence) yeah i would be scared to come out too after that, especially with the wounds still so fresh
