I gotta say, I think Sangwoo’s relationship with his mother was definitely incestuous, but not reciprocated by Sangwoo. Like, what I got from Eunseo is that she was dependent on Sangwoo 100%. She was dependent on him because of the abuse from her husband and the cage her meantal illness kept her in, and because she had no control over her own life, she weaseled her way into Sangwoo’s so even after death, she was controlling his life. On the other hand, with Sangwoo, what I interpreted was that he was just a kid. He was a kid who had a mentally ill mother and was abused by her. She manipulated him, his emotions, and that abuse made it so she could even manipulate his memories about her. And again, Sangwoo was a kid. And his mother was enacting her own agenda onto Sangwoo and making him think it was his own. Idk if I’m making sense, but I never interpreted that Sangwoo ever returned any kind of feelings towards his mom. And it wasn’t necessarily that Eunseo held feelings for Sangwoo, either, it was just that he was the only person in her life. She didn’t have any other outlets for her own abuse and illness and pain except for Sangwoo.

Basically, Sangwoo was a little boy who just wanted his mom to love him, and Eunseo used that against him. She forced him into an emotionally incestuous relationship that Sangwoo didn’t want to be in (I don’t think either of them truly wanted it), but he had no other choice.
