Killing Stalking rant
Don't read if you don't like KS,I guess??? Also please don't kill me for enjoying KS.
I haven't mentioned it here, but I'm a huge fan of Killing Stalking (the series, not the activities) I haven't mentioned it because on one hand, the series is one giant trigger warning, and for some reason people automatically think that, because you enjoy fucked up media, then you're a bad person (personally I just think you guys are puritans or something) and on the other hand, you have this gripping story that, despite its contents,is impossible to put down. One of the criticisms that confuse me is that people say it's "romanticized" when it's quiet literally not. Our main character develops Stockholm syndrome. Huuuuuge difference. Like, blindingly different. I get why people have problems with the series, don't get me wrong, absolutely,I understand, because it's disturbing and can be triggering. But a lot of horror media has disgusting themes. It's part of the genre! It's like saying you don't like a chocolate cake because it tastes like chocolate. Like what did you expect from a psychological horror??? A healthy relationship? Also the debate on whether or not it's a bl. Personally,I don't think it is. Calling it a "Boys Love" implies that there's love, when there isn't. It is a victim/captor "relationship" (I say relationship extremely loosely here, because I can't think of a better word) also I think even the author doesn't consider it a bl. Was it written with a bl audience in mind in my opinion? Absolutely. Although my opinion may be irrelevant because this is the only "bl" I've read. My only qualm with the series is that most of the "sex" scenes were somewhat unnecessary (although I could have forgotten things because it's been a very long time since I last read it) ,not to sound like a puritan. Those scenes just sort of feel like bait for the bl audience, although some of them are plot necessary. Anyways,do I recommend KS? Absolutely the fuck not. Believe me when I say it's disturbing on so many levels. But is it good? Phenomenal. Like I said before,it's impossible to put down once you start. It's that gripping. And I think it absolutely spoiled me on other manhwa because it's that good. And the ending is gut wrenching to boot. Anyways, yeah, the point of this rant is,gross, fucked up stories need to be told, too. And that what you read absolutely does not make you evil, despite what the internet likes to say.
