the universe vs lorenzo musetti strikes once again
Just sort of realised that the way I'm feeling right now closest resembles me being hungover and going through withdrawal
Which is interesting to say the least because I haven't had a sip of alcohol in almost 3 years now and I have meds making sure I basically die if I drink
So what the actual fuck
Carrying metric fucktons of gold makes a little more sense now
Thinking about the first time i ever felt guilt over lying and felt so sick for three days straight until I was finally found out and confessed to the lie and cried in the guidance counselors office because of how horrible it all felt and then went back to my second grade class and immediately lied to my classmates about why I was called out. I went through a whole anime arc and learned NOTHING the absolute fucking hubris 6 yr old me had
PLEASE tell us more about Asim and his husband ❤ What are their races? And their jobs? How did they meet? :)
Thank you so much for the ask @dragonbleps!
(Edit: I have been going between writing this up and getting my Commission Sheet in order, it’s been a welcome break and I might have gone overboard, sorry for taking so long on this .... uuuh I cast OC lore upon you)
Asim is a Zaixaudai(dark elf with orcish heritage) and Gearheart is a Wilbi(a woodelf)! Asim was a town watchman, and now he's fucking around as an unconventional freelance paladin while the Big State Church pays him and begs him to do what they want (he won't. he's a paladin of the people and no matter how much money the government pays him, he's not going to do what they want). He moonlights as an entertainer under the name Balam Yunuen, and his act includes pit fighting, singing, dancing, feats of daring, and anything else that strikes his fancy, especially if it's dangerous.
Gearheart was a hunter and an Adventurer™ as well as an entertainer at the town Asim was a watchman of. He'd sell meats and hides from things he'd hunted to local butchers and craftsmen and tell tall tales and sing songs about his adventures at the local bar. How they met in this life is rather simple. They crossed on the trail when Gearheart was hunting and Asim was patrolling, and after that Gearheart started to go out of his way to accompany him and to spend time telling him stories in the watchtower while Asim was keeping watch. They'd even team up to take down large threats near the town like wild boar other hostile wildlife.
There’s reincarnation shenanigans though, and they actually first met in Asim’s first life 2000 years ago when Asim was a wilbi prince known as Daoinrai the Dearheart, and Gearheart was his dairau(dark elf) attendant, Hilal. They were in love then too but died before they could marry in secret.
Asim’s pet name for Gearheart in their current life is “Dearheart”(like Asim’s old princely title!), “deerheart” or “kroixhorn”(an elven/common mashup pun which roughly means heartstring horn, but there’s more too it than that and I’ve already talked... a lot... here)
Obligatory Picture because it took forever to paint and I will use every opportunity to point at it.
Okay now that I reread the Second Battle of Mag Tuired, there’s something else that’s occurred to me about Nuada’s prosthetic. I talk more about Nuada and his disability here.
Specifically in that he has two- and that one is heavily implied to be better than the other- one made of flesh and bone as opposed to one made of silver.
Dian Cecht did not like that cure. He hurled a sword at the crown of his son's head and cut his skin to the flesh. The young man healed it by means of his skill. He struck him again and cut his flesh until he reached the bone. The young man healed it by the same means. He struck the third blow and reached the membrane of his brain. The young man healed this too by the same means. Then he struck the fourth blow and cut out the brain, so that Miach died; and Dian Cecht said that no physician could heal him of that blow.
Of course in this same translation of the text, Miach appears in battle after he’s been dead and buried in the text, so take this as you will, but- the text does nothing to put Dian Cecht’s actions toward his son in a favorable light, it doesn’t put them an unfavorable light either, but considering this particular text’s emphasis on the goodness or badness of feats, that feels like a very particular choice.
Ultimately this argument between father and son is based around which is the best “cure” for a disability- in it, we do not get any idea of which “cure” Nuada thinks is best- but personally to me it reads as a recognition of disabled people having options in regard to disability aids, and also that abled people and abled physicians especially will fight over which aids are best without taking the opinions of the disabled into account. If one chooses to read Miach’s appearing later in the text as a form of resurrection (a feat that is shown in the Second Battle of Mag Tuired), then it can be implied that despite opposition, and violence taken against him that his was the possibly “better cure.” And that it could be interpreted as a call to support and provide aid to our disabled community members regardless of any backlash we might receive. Or at the very least that it can be modernized as such.
to the tune of the blues’ clues’ letter song:
we just got key items, we just got key items, we just got key items,
I wonder what they’re for?
Not to further muddle things for you (and not that it particularly matters), but I'm the person who sent you the original confession about being kicked out of my University, and the person who claimed to be me and said they made the story up was very much not me and was lying. Again, not that it's a big deal, since I'm a random person who follows you and who you don't know IRL, but it definitely did happen.
