Shitty sketch of a start to the draw the artist meme (WTF ARE HANDS)
Art improvement!!
(All of these were done early in their year)
2014: This OC was called Selena or Serena, I can’t remember. I used poorly placed cell shading, did not highlight anything except the hair and eyes.I used the pen stabiliser very heavily. This was in my full weaboo stage ;-;. This was a full piece that took just over 4hrs.
2015: This OC was called Evie and was my main gal at the time. I haven’t drawn her at all after that drawing. I had a whole story set up for her and a few other old OC’s that I have since abandoned. This was unfinished. I also used the pen stabiliser but not as heavily. I started using pose references but always drew MASSIVE boobs because.... I don’t know. This WIP took about 3hrs
2016: This is an OC in making, Maya. I very heavily referenced this image. I still like her colour scheme but very little else. My lining got thicker and I stopped using the pen stabiliser completely. I also learned how to colour line art. I didn’t finish it because I didn’t like how it turned out enough (and I’m just lazy) I thought it would be edgy to give her slit pupils but they just make her look like a lizard with lazy eyes yikes. The clothing folds were completely off and her design was all over the place. I improved a lot in 2016 but also did a fair bit of backtracking. I started posting my art on tumblr this year. This is when I really got into art seriously.
2017: These are all quick sketches I did when I woke up a few days ago. I wanted to try a looser style of lining that would also be quicker to do for making comic pages. I found that my colours were still a bit dull so I did a colour palette challenge (the whole thing here). I am liking how this style is progressing. This year, I want to get better at lighting, anatomy, colour schemes, and clothing folds mainly. I will probably do some redraws and studies this year so I can gauge how far I’m improving and what I still need to work on.
