was thinking about the Hospital from LN II and kind of came to the conclusion this was never a Hospital at all. It was a morgue, and the ‘Doctor’ was the local mortician.
Think about it. This guy takes bodies of the dead and builds fake people out of parts and pieces, of lamps and prosthetic limbs. That is essentially what morticians DO. They take the deceased, and recreate what they should look like in life, for viewing and visitation. You see some of the Patients with these masquerade masks, and others with just a set of dentures on a little boney pole. A hospital wouldn’t have that sort of equipment.
Sure we see gauze and other bottles of chemicals, but this layout and establishment is clearly a morgue. All this equipment would be standard for body prep. And no, don’t try and tell me, “But hospitals would fit someone with a prosthetic.” Because then we have to talk about how there are cells for holding the Patients. And also, there’s a CREMATORIUM. Some hospitals can have an incinerator incorporated, but only for bio-waste. This place had a fully functional crematorium for whole bodies.
But there are so many bodies and far too many morgue cells in that ‘hospital’. The boundless rooms full of beds are meant to hold the bodies that arrive, before they can get cataloged and placed into freezer storage. The sink plus bed combo is a dead giveaway. That is a morgue set up for embalming a body - no hospital in any time period has a damn sink incorporated into an operating table.
My dudes and dudettes and nonbinary folk. These small baby children were running barefoot through a fucking morgue and climbing onto bodies. Like... damn, this game is fucking dark.
