41. Swanfire + Ghost/Living Person AU

(Note: lol this is technically 100% canon compliant i hate everything)

There’s this space, between dreaming and awake. 

That’s where she sees him.

The first time, she slaps him. And then she punches him in the shoulder. And then she says: “Damnit, Neal. You’re such a fucking idiot.”

The second time, she closes her eyes, takes a deep breath, tries to get her bearings. After a moment, she walks toward him, resolutely, wraps her arms around him loosely and buries her face against his shoulder.

He sighs, his own arms encircling her, holding her steady.

"You’re still an idiot," she mumbles.

He laughs. He leans his head against hers, and she feels him nod. “Yeah,” he says, quietly. “Can’t argue with that.

The third time, she manages a small smile, shakes her head and walks over to sit next to him. Her arm presses against his, comfortably. 

"So, is this real, or am I just going insane?" she asks, finally. Neal laughs, running a hand through his hair. It’s still got all the grey in it. She always forgets to picture him with grey hair, when she thinks about him. Something in her stomach churns like a maybe.

"Hell if I know," he shrugs.

"How do you not know if you’re real?”

"How do I know if you’re real?”

"Because I’m not the one that’s dead, asshole."

"There could be hallucinations in the afterlife," he said, reasonably. 

"Didn’t know you believed in that kind of thing," she said quietly, remembering I’ll be watching over you guys, from somewhere, an uneasy sadness settling under her skin. There were probably a lot of things she didn’t know about him. Hundreds of years of things. Things she’s not going to get to find out. 

He shrugs. “I guess I do. I dunno, the way I see it, either I’m really here, and it does exist, or you’re making me up. It’s just a possibility.”

"I don’t know if I could make up you being logical," she teases, because hallucination or not, it’s easy like it’s always been, and she’ll take that much.

He grins, nudging her a little.

"Does it matter?" he asks. "If it’s real?"

She doesn’t think before she says:

"No. Doesn’t matter."

31. Swanfire + Prostitute/Client

Every so often, she was someone's birthday present. Or graduation gift. Sometimes a bachelor's party surprise. 

Emma could always tell when that was the case. Eyes wide with surprise, a hint of guilt carried in their shoulders. It usually went away pretty quickly. 

She had one of those tonight. But this one--- this one was a little more skittish. Emma stretched out a little in the backseat of the rented limo-- whoever had gotten her for this kid went all out-- and sighed. Having to work for working for her money was the worst, she thought, wryly.

"Let me guess," she raised her eyebrows. "Not your idea?"

He smiled a little, relief curving his lips upward, though he was still pretty tense. "My stepdad," he mumbled, shrugging. "It's my birthday, and--"

"He thought he'd surprise you," Emma finished, knowingly. 

"Yeah," he sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Mom really knows how to pick 'em. My actual dad bought me a car, and they hate each other, so."

He shrugged. Emma resisted the urge to vomit. Rich boy problems. For fuck's sake.

"More common than you'd think," she said instead, plastering on a smile. "Don't feel weird about it."

He bit his lip. "I just...this isn't...I don't..." he stuttered. Emma rolled her eyes, sitting up a little, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Look, I'm gonna be blunt with you, okay?" she said, firmly. "I do this because I have to, but that does not mean I need saving. Got it?"

He stared for a moment, nodding slowly. "Okay," he said, quietly. "Got it."

"Good," she said, glaring a little before she could stop herself. "Are we good?"

"Yeah," he sighed. "Not gonna save you. Still. Could we maybe just...hang out?"

Emma raised her eyebrows. "Seriously?"

"Look. That's the most honest I think anyone's been with me in a long time. Might be a better birthday present," he grinned. "Besides, I prefer this kind of thing more on the organic side."

Emma groaned, rolling her eyes at his pleased reaction. "Smooth. But fine. You're the customer. I still get paid?"

"You still get paid," he smiled widely, holding out his hand. "I'm Neal."

Emma stared for a second, hesitating.

1. What is you favorite otp? 

Swan Queen. I don't think I've ever shipped any couple as hard as I do these two idiots.

2. What is the last tv show you watched?

Ooooh so many. I'd love to see London, New York, Sydney, Vancouver, and so many more. Give me lots of money and the courage to just ignore my other responsibilities like finding a job etc for a year or so and I'll go check them all (and then some) out :P

Uhhh well FLUENTLY only 2 - German and English. I do also speak a little bit of French, but it's pretty hard for me to form sentences. It's been a while. :P (Occasionally I see some French posts on here though and I do usually get the gist of them. So yeah, I'm quite proud of that haha)

Yup, three concerts in total. First one was an Anastacia one and the biggest of the three (and also the biggest deal to me back then, cause I was a HUGE fan). Second was a really really small and intimate (but also cool) one with a couple of relatively unknown Japanese bands and the third was a boysetsfire one with Mi and Hana, which was real freaking awesome :D

Season One. Just kidding haha I'd say probably fall, cause it's still warm enough to go out without a jacket, but cool enough that you're not super hot all the time. Plus pretty leaves everywhere :D
