I cannot emphasise this enough: It. Is. The. Same. Yes, he may well have mental health issues and he certainly needs help, but that doesn't excuse or diminish his actions. He still committed an act of terrorism built upon the basis of skewed far right beliefs. Just because he is a lone white British male doesn't make his act any less horrific than the killing of Lee Rigby. They are both equally deplorable and should be viewed and treated as such. @dailymail #dailymail #fckh8 #ohthehypocrisy #jocox #labour #leerigby #terrorismhasnoreligion
The recent direct revealed to us how exactly bosses would work this time around, and there’s a bit of hype for it, slightly overshadowed by Greninja and Smash Run. So that everything can be analyzed and theorized, let’s take a look at something Smash has been doing since the beginning, Boss characters (and by that I mean Master Hand in 64, and Crazy Hand and Giga Bowser in Melee)
First up on the list (specifically in the Article Directory) would be Mario Galaxy, a well loved series with plenty of bosses in the game as well. It’s been years since I last played Mario Galaxy, but there were a lot of infamous bosses there like the Bouldergeist and the Dino Piranha. Bouldergeist seems to be a bit too big for a stage like this, though, and its theme doesn’t quite fit in with the stage either. Dino Piranha, on the other hand, is not only the right size for it, but was also the boss of the level the stage is based on, Good Egg Galaxy!
For those who have not played it, and if you haven’t, what, Dino Piranha was the first boss of Mario Galaxy 1 who you had to beat by smacking the nut tail while avoiding it. Since Smash is a 2D fighter, most of the fighters would be trying to position themselves behind the Dino for that one sweet hit to whack the brat with it’s’ own tail. Alternatively, such a thing could be the easy method of damage, as direct assaults may still work, but would take a while. It’s more likely to work that way, as if everyone could easily get behind Dino Piranha, it wouldn’t be that impressive of a boss.
Next up is Pyrosp-
uh
Elite 4 Hall! As many have theorized, the stage seems to be a travelling stage as it goes up the floors of the Elite 4, and eventually reaches the Champion’s Room. With all the representation of Mega Evolution this time around, if there’s a boss hazard here, it’ll easily be Mega Gardevoir that is the boss here.
But Mega Gardevoir isn’t quite the boss character you’d imagine. Nay, to be a true boss, Mega Gardevoir can either be a close range psychic attacker or just plain bullet hell with all the variety of moves Mega Gardevoir can use like Psyshock, Charge Beam, Focus Blast, and more. Mega Gardevoir would probably be a very stationary boss with all of this considered, so to make up for it, it would have deadly close range attacks and maybe some reflecting properties with Reflect.
Now here’s one I want to talk about, and that’s the possible boss of PNF-404. The stage takes place in the Garden of Hope, but much like the Rid-
uh
I mean, Bouldergeist argument I made up there, the Armored Crawdad and Quaggled Mireclops are just way too damn big. Does that mean a boss is unlikely for this stage? You would think so as the Plasm Wraith may be considered, but it’s way too similar to the Yellow Devil by sheer coincidence, the Behemoth Phosbat too out of place, and the Sandbelching Meerslug just not fitting in. That only leaves one possible contender.
The Scornet Maestro, known for it’s very unique boss battle (not to undermine the Phosbat, but seriously, a 100 versus a 100!). Since it’s small enough and flight oriented, it makes for a strong boss character with its Scornet lackeys at its beck and call. Hogging the air until it attacks, firing Scornets in frightening concentrations, and phases of vulnerability will make this boss a battle of patience.
Last one for this article would be the Reset Bomb Forest. Because of the popularity of Kid Icarus Uprising, possible Boss characters for this stage have been discussed, here or Palutena’s Temple. While both were stages in that game and had bosses, if only one boss from Kid Icarus would be selected and had to stay true to Kid Icarus, it would have to be either Palutena (under the influence of Chaos Kin), or Cragalanche. And for many people the choice has already been made, as they’d want Palutena to be a playable character so…
Cragalanche it is. Now, even though I’ve seen the playthroughs, Cragalanche doesn’t seem like a mobile boss for this kind of stage, from what we’ve seen of it. Amazingly enough, Cragalanche did have projectiles and was incredibly mobile, capable of rolling around, jumping great heights, and barreling right across the stage. For Smash, though, he’d probably act more like a platform hell boss, jumping around and attacking when anyone was close. But that’s a good thing, as this simplicity differentiates him from the other possible bosses discussed here, Mega Gardevoir’s bullet hell, Dino Piranha’s difficult to exploit weakness while it tramples around, and Scornet Maestro being the airborne devil it is.
That’s about all I got for bosses. I’d have more, but, one boss per series, and that dwindles the list dramatically when looking at the stages. Regardless, what are your thoughts on possible bosses for the known and possible stages? Let’s get the ball rolling.
