DJBC Tumblr Summer 22 - Worthington 100th Memorial Day Parade '22

Good things come to those who wait. The City of Worthington had to wait THREE years for its 100th Memorial Day Parade through their fine city (due to the Pandemic). But, this morning, paradegoers lined up High Street between Granville Road and Stanton Avenue for the 100th Edition of the American Legion Post 239's Memorial Day Parade, which included FIVE bands (including both High Schools in Worthington, plus the OSU Alumni Marching Band).

DJBC Tumblr Fall Throwback - Worthington Market Day (2019)

The Old Worthington Market Day was canceled this year, due to COVID-19. This open air street market is organized by the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce, in which High Street is shut down completely (between State Route 161 and South Street), and High Street becomes an open air marketplace. In normal years, this is the one week that the Worthington Farmer’s Market does not take place, due to the Market Day.

More Highlights from the 2019 Worthington Memorial Day Parade

Right now, the Memorial Day Parade in Worthington, Ohio would have been in progress right now. This year would have been the 100th Parade. However, the Parade, organized by the Worthington American Legion # 239 was canceled due to COVID-19 and the State Order banning Mass Gatherings.  Here are highlights from last year’s Parade, the 99th Parade, which was the first time that I went.

Highlights from Old Worthington Market Day

The last Saturday of September brought in Market Day in Old Worthington.  This flea market, organized by the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce, shut down High Street from State Route 161 (Granville Rd.) to South Street, for an open market with artists, community organizations, food vendors, and local businesses.  This was a DORA (Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area) event, meaning you could stroll along with your beverage within the DORA zone.
